It is very important not to get cake to dry. It depends on what size cake pan you use. I use a "angel food cake pan" or "tube pan". Thinner cakes will take less time to cook.

Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup crisco
- 2 - eggs (large)
- 1 cup sour milk (add 1 tbs of vinegar or lemon juice to milk)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cocoa, unsweetened
- 1 cup boiling water
- CHOCOLATE ICING
- 1 pound powdered sugar (more if needed)
- 2 tablespoons cocoa, unsweetened (heaping)
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- - milk, whole

Step 1Add vanilla to milk.

Step 2Cream sugar and crisco, add eggs and beat well.

Step 3Mix in cocoa.

Step 4Beginning with flour, alternate adding flour and milk.

Step 5Boil water in microwave and add to mix all at once, mix well.

Step 6Bake @ 350 degrees about 45 minutes. After 30 minutes begin to check cake by inserting a toothpick every 5 minutes. Cool. Turn cake out onto plate after about 10 minutes.

Step 7In a bowl add powdered sugar, cocoa, butter and vanilla. Add milk a little at a time. Beat well. To your taste you might need to add more butter, cocoa and milk.
