fruit cake

Ingredients

• 1 cup white sugar
• 1/2 cup shortening
• 1 - egg
• 1 1/2 cups applesauce
• 1 teaspoon baking soda, mix into applesauce
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 2 cups flour
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon allspice, ground
• 1 cup nuts, i use pecans and filberts
• 1 cup dates, slightly chopped
• 1 cup maraschino cherries, slightly chopped
