my mother made the BEST Crystal Pound Cake, because the outside of her cake would crystalize. I have yet to achieve this on mine. It needs no icing. And is wonderful warm from the oven.

  • 3 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    shortening
  • 5
    eggs
  • 3 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 Tbsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    buttermilk

How To Make crystal pound cake

  • 1
    Cream shortening and sugar well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition add vanilla.
  • 2
    Sift flour, baking soda and salt together. Add alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition.

    Pour into greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 350 degrees 1 hour, or until toothpick inserted into cake comes out clean. Turn out onto cake plate, let cool. Enjoy!
