cinnamon oats layer cake
This is the third recipe for an oats layer cake I created, with cinnamon inside the cake, it tastes like cinnamon rolls with oats.

Ingredients
- 3 cups rolled oats, divided
- 2 cups dark brown sugar, divided
- 1 cup whole milk, divided
- 3/4 cup cinnamon roll flavored liquid creamer
- 8 teaspoons ground cinnamon, divided
- 4 tablespoons cinnamon-sugar, divided
- 1 box white cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 - egg whites
- 2 tablespoons margarine
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup half and half
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
How To Make cinnamon oats layer cake

Step 1In a medium jar, combine 1 cup rolled oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup whole milk, the liquid creamer and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon. Stir well for 30 seconds until blended. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours.

Step 2Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 3Coat two 9-inch round cake pans with cooking spray. Sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar between the cake pans.

Step 4In large bowl, combine cake mix, water, oil, egg whites, 1/2 cup brown sugar and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon; beat on medium speed for 3 minutes.

Step 5Add cinnamon oat mixture into the cake batter, beat again on low speed for 30 seconds. Pour into the cake pans.

Step 6Bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool completely for 6 minutes.

Step 7Heat margarine in a large skillet over medium heat. Add remaining rolled oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar and 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, saute for 3 minutes or until the oats are crispy. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 8In a medium bowl, combine heavy cream, half and half, remaining milk, cream cheese and remaining brown sugar and ground cinnamon; whisk well for 2 minutes or until smooth and creamy.

Step 9Place one layer of cake on the serving plate. Spread half the frosting evenly over the top and sprinkle with the sauteed oat mixture. Press evenly with a spoon.

Step 10Place a second layer cake on top. Spread remaining frosting on top and sides of the cake. Sprinkle with remaining cinnamon-sugar.
