I created this new kind of cake recipe - it's a cross between cinnamon and malted milk balls.

Ingredients For cinnamon malted crunch cake

  • CAKE
  • 1 c
    chocolate malt balls
  • 1 c
    chocolate covered peanuts
  • 4 tsp
    ground cinnamon, divided
  • 1/2 c
    margarine
  • 1/2 c
    vegetable oil
  • 2 Tbsp
    unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 Tbsp
    malted milk powder
  • 1 c
    water
  • 2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 c
    cane sugar
  • 3/4 c
    chilled chocolate milk
  • 3/4 c
    butterscotch syrup
  • 3 lg
    eggs
  • 2 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • FROSTING
  • 1/2 c
    margarine
  • 4 Tbsp
    malted milk powder
  • 5 Tbsp
    chilled chocolate milk
  • 3 tsp
    mint extract
  • 3/4 c
    cane sugar
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, softened
  • 1 c
    creamy peanut butter

How To Make cinnamon malted crunch cake

    Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • 2
    Coat a 9 x 13-inch baking pan with baking spray. Add chocolate malt balls and chocolate covered peanuts; mix well. Season with 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon.

    In a small saucepan, combine margarine, oil, cocoa, malted milk powder, and water. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, stirring often for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

    In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour and sugar; whisk well until blended. Pour in the malted/cocoa mixture and whisk again until combined.

    Mix in the chocolate milk, butterscotch syrup, eggs, vanilla extract, 1 tsp ground cinnamon and baking soda.

    Pour batter into prepared baking pan. Season with remaining cinnamon evenly on the batter.

    Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted the center comes out clean. Allow to cool for 10 minutes.

    For the frosting, combine margarine, malted milk powder, and chocolate milk in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring often for 4 minutes. Remove from heat.

    Stir in mint extract, sugar, cream cheese and peanut butter. Whisk together until blended.

    Spread the frosting over the cooled cake evenly.
