For the chocolate lovers, I created a second recipe of flavored oats laker cake. This one is chocolate, filled with chocolate sauteed oats inside the cake.

Ingredients For chocolate oats layer cake

  • 3 c
    rolled oats, divided
  • 1 pkg
    instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 c
    chocolate milk, divided
  • 1 c
    milk chocolate chips, divided
  • 20
    chocolate covered almonds, chopped
  • 1 box
    triple chocolate fudge cake mix
  • 1 1/4 c
    water
  • 1/2 c
    vegetable oil
  • 3
    large eggs
  • 1 Tbsp
    margarine
  • 1 1/2 c
    chocolate syrup, divided
  • 1 c
    heavy cream
  • 3 Tbsp
    malted milk powder
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 c
    Nutella
  • 3/4 c
    chocolate covered raisins

How To Make chocolate oats layer cake

    In a medium jar, combine 1 cup rolled oats, the pudding mix, 1 cup chocolate milk and 1/2 cup chocolate chips; use a fork and stir well until blended. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours.

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

    Coat two 8 round cake pans with cooking spray. Add the chopped chocolate covered almonds to the bottom of the cake pans.

    Whisk the cake mix, water, vegetable oil and eggs together in a large bowl for 3 minutes until combined.

    Add the chocolate oat mixture into the cake batter and whisk again for 30 seconds until blended.

    Pour the cake batter into the cake pans. Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted the center comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes.

    Heat the margarine in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add remaining rolled oats and saute for 5 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from heat. Stir in 1/2 cup chocolate syrup.

    In a medium bowl, combine heavy cream, remaining chocolate milk, malted milk powder, cream cheese and remaining chocolate syrup; whisk well for 5 minutes or until smooth.

    Place one layer of cake on a serving plate. Spread Nutella evenly over the cake. Add the sauteed oat mixture and chocolate covered raisins.

    Place another cake on top. Spread the frosting on the top and sides of the cake. Sprinkle remaining chocolate chips evenly over the top.
