chocolate frosting

This is my Grandmother's recipe. I ate a lot of it growing up and it tastes delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa, unsweetened
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make chocolate frosting

  • Step 1
    Blend the cocoa and sugar together to avoid lumps. Place in medium sauce pan along with the 1/4 cup shortening and 1/3 cup milk.
  • Step 2
    On medium heat slowly bring to boil stir to mix ingredients then turn up the heat a little. When it reaches a rolling boil- time for one minute. Remove from heat.
  • Step 3
    Allow to cool and add 1-tsp vanilla extract Do NOT STIR UNTIL COOL OR IT WILL CRYSTALLIZE.
