Skillet Cinnamon Apples on a Devils Food cake topped with whipped cream!...YUM! Actually any unfrosted cake or vanilla pound cake will work. I had the apples and a boxed cake, so I decided to make a desert for a friend, that had to put down her doggie. She loves chocolate, and I am sure this recipe will make her feel a wee bit better. This turned out to be a delicious treat, with the cinnamon apples ladled on the top. Naturally it screamed for whipped cream!.. LOL Nancy. 9/20/13

Ingredients

1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1-1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
4 medium cooking apples, cored and unpeeled, cut into eights

How To Make buttery,cinnamon,skillet apples on devils food

Step 1

In a 10 inch skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the sugar and cornstarch, mix well. Add remaining ingredients. Stir.

Step 2

Add remaining ingredients. Cover and cook over medium heat, spooning sauce occasionally, until apples are fork tender and sauce is thickened. 12- to 15 minutes. This is a Land-O-Lakes, an old recipe from my file.
Step 3

I baked a DEVILS FOOD CAKE, from a box mix.

Ready to serve...ENJOY! My camera is acting up... white colors are hard to see.????? Sorry.

I made a Devils Food Cake from a mix. In a hurry??? Buy a ready made Angels Food cake already made.
