This is my "go to" buttercream. Great on layer cakes and cupcakes!

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

  • 2 stick
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 6-8 c
    powdered sugar

How to Make Buttercream Frosting

Step-by-Step

  1. With an electric mixer, mix butter until creamy and smooth.
  2. Add 4 cups of powdered sugar, vanilla and milk and mix on low speed until well combined.
  3. Add two more cups of powdered sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
  4. Add remaining powdered sugar if needed for consistency. 7 cups usually works for me.
