I got this recipe from a farm that sells blueberries and strawberries on the side of a country road in Alabama. There was no name attributed to the recipe.....I just pulled off when I saw the table with berries for sale when I was traveling back roads coming back from my Mom's house. I was intrigued because a doctor I work with is always raving about kuchen she gets in Wisconsin.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 5 cups fresh blueberries, divided
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

How To Make blueberry kuchen

  • Step 1
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Combine 1 cup flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, and salt; cut in the butter with a pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle the vinegar over the surface and stir with a fork until the dry ingredients are moistened.
  • Step 2
Shape into a ball. Firmly press the pastry on the bottom and 1 inch up the sides of an ungreased 9-inch springform pan.
  • Step 3
Place 3 cups blueberries in the prepared crust. Combine 2/3 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, and cinnamon. Stir well. Sprinkle the cinnamon misture over the blueberries in the crust.
  • Step 4
Bake on the lowest rack of the oven at 400 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes or until the crust is golden brown. Remove from the oven and immediately top with 2 cups fresh blueberries. Cool in the pan on a wire rack. Carefully remove the sides of the springform pan and enjoy!
