I have had this recipe since the early sixty's It was my ex mother in laws recipe. A personal note from her. When I bake this cake I drained a quart of berries and used all the berries. I like more than the recipe calls for. Your choice

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup crisco shortening
  • 4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups sour milk
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups blackberries

How To Make blackberry cake

  • Step 1
    Mix dry dry ingredients set a side. cream shortening and sugar together, add beaten eggs, Add milk and berries alternately with dry ingredients. I bake this in bunt cake pan
  • Step 2
    Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or till a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in center of cake. May frost with caramel Icing or eat plain
