This is a molasses cake that is called black bread because of the color. From my favorite aunt, Myrtle Nelson. Also a favorite of my other half.

How to Make Black Bread


  1. Mix first 5 ingredients; add flour. Bake in a 9x13-inch pan at 325 degrees for about an hour or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
