best basic cake layers
Got this recipe from an old church cookbook. Very simple, delicious and can be frosted as desired.

Ingredients
- FOR 2 LAYERS:
- 1/2 cup crisco (i have used butter and oil)
- 1 1/3 cups sugar
- 2 cups self-rising flour, unsifted
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- FOR 3 LAYERS:
- 3/4 cup crisco
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 cups self-rising flour, unsifted
- 1 cup milk
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 1/2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
How To Make best basic cake layers

Step 1Mix Crisco, sugar, flour and first amount of milk thoroughly.

Step 2Add eggs, remaining milk and vanilla extract.

Step 3Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes, or until done. Follow steps for either recipe for desired layers.
