This is an actual recipe for wedding/birthday cakes and also for making doll cakes. Moist and firm. This recipe has been a family secret for years.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups crisco
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 5 large whole eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups sifted presto self rising cake flour
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

How To Make bakers pound cake

  • Step 1
    Cream Sugar and Crisco until very fluffy.
  • Step 2
    Add Eggs one at a time, beating well.
  • Step 3
    Add 1/2 of the flour and all the milk. Blend well.
  • Step 4
    Add the rest of the flour and the vanilla. Blend. Beat at #5 speed (medium speed) at least 20 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Grease large 9x13 pan well (or 2 - 9 inch round cake pans) and bake at 350 degree oven for 1 hour and 10 minutes. IMPORTANT: DO NOT OPEN THE OVEN DOOR FOR THE FIRST 50 MINUTES! Frost with French Cream Icing.
