My kids (ages 3 and 4) have so much fun being in charge of the poor kitchen.

A side note: I would double the glaze recipe if you are making all 12 donuts. The recipe as is only seems to be enough glaze for about 6 donuts.

    eggs, lighlty beaten
  • 2 Tbsp
    melted butter

  • 1/4 c
    semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1 Tbsp
    corn syrup
  • 1 tsp
    hot water

How to Make Baked Cake Donuts with Chocolate Glaze


  1. Preheat oven to 425. Spray a donut pan with nonstick cooking spray. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt.
  2. Add the buttermilk, eggs, and butter. Beat with mixer until just combined. Fill each donut cup approximately 2/3 full. Bake for 7-9 minutes, until the tops spring back when touched. Let cool in pan for 4-5 minutes before removing.
  3. For the glaze- combine all ingredients in a bowl and microwave for 1 minute. Stir, until melted. If the glaze is too thick, add 1 tsp of hot water until glaze is smooth. Spread on the donuts and add any topinng you like- sprinkles, coconut, etc.
