Ingredients
- 2 cups "unsifted" all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 2 - eggs
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed firmly
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups "hot" applesauce
- 1 cup dates, chopped
- 3/4 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
How To Make applesauce - date cake

Step 1Preheat oven: 350 degrees. Grease & flour a 9 x 9 inch pan; set aside.

Step 2In large bowl: mix flour with baking soda, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, & cloves. Add eggs, brown sugar, soft butter & 1 cup of "HOT" applesauce; beat at low speed just until ingredients are combined. Beat again for 2 more minutes at medium speed.

Step 3Add remaining 1 cup "HOT" applesauce, dates,& nuts; beat for 1 minute. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 50 minutes. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes; then remove & cool on wire rack.
