Ingredients

  • 3 large tart apples, such as granny smith
  • 1 cup maple syrup, divided
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • - unsweetened whipped cream, optional

How To Make apple maple pudding

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 375F. Grease or spray an 8-inch square baking dish.
  • Step 2
    Peel and core apples. Cut into even chunks.
  • Step 3
    Arrange apples in the prepared baking pan. Pour 1/2 cup of the maple syrup over apples, stirring to coat well, and spread in an even layer.
  • Step 4
    In a bowl, combine beaten egg, butter and lemon juice with remaining 1/2 cup maple syrup.
  • Step 5
    In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Stir the dry ingredients into the egg mixture. Fold in raisins.
  • Step 6
    Pour batter evenly over apple pieces.
  • Step 7
    Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until top is lightly browned.
  • Step 8
    Serve warm with unsweetened whipped cream, if desired.
