Here is another great dessert from the BH&G Oven Meals cookbook. My mother passed this book on to me--she must have known I would make good use of it one day. If you love apples, dates, and nuts, this is for you!

Ingredients

2 c
all purpose flour
1 c
sugar
1 1/2 tsp
baking soda
1 tsp
salt
1 tsp
ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp
ground allspice
2
eggs, beaten
1 can(s)
(21 oz.) apple pie filling
1/2 c
cooking oil
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1 c
chopped pitted dates
1/4 c
chopped walnuts

How to Make APPLE-DATE DREAM

Step-by-Step

  • 1In a medium bowl, combine thoroughly the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and allspice. In a second bowl, combine eggs, pie filling, oil and vanilla.
  • 2Stir into flour mixture and mix well. Stir in dates and nuts. Pour into a greased and floured 13x9x2" baking dish.
  • 3Bake in a pre-heated 350-degree oven for 40 to 45 minutes. Cool. Cut into squares and serve with whipped cream.
