I decided one day to make a simple white cake then I thought well why don't I throw some apples in it and I am really glad that I did because this is a hit with my husband who doesn't really like sweets and my dad who is a really picky eater. You can also use fresh peaches instead of apples if you would rather!

Ingredients

  • 2 c
    flour
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 1/4 c
    milk
  • 2 or 3
    apples chopped
  • 1/4 stick
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    cinnamon sugar mixture

How to Make Apple Cake With Cream Cheese Frosting

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350F
  2. Start off by melting the butter in a medium sized sauce pan, while the butter is melting cut the apples leaving the skin on (you can peel them if you like) add the chopped apples to the butter, then add the cinnamon sugar mix to the apples let cook about 5 minutes stirring regularly take off heat and let cool a bit.
  3. Mix together the shortening, milk, eggs, sugar and vanilla, then mix salt, flour, and baking powder in another bowl
  4. Add dry ingredients to wet mixture mix until smooth the add the apples and mix a little longer.
  5. Pour cake batter into greased baking pan and cook for 25 to 30 minutes on 350F
