I first had these at an "Apples of Gold" meeting. They're delightful and surprisingly addicting. One day I'll remember to photograph before serving. The bars look like dense apple cake.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, unsalted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 - eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups granny smith or fuji apples, peeled, sliced
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

How To Make apple brownies

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 325 F. Grease a 9 x 13 pan. Cream together butter, salt and sugar. Beat in eggs. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and mix well. Add apple slices and nuts. Mixture is very thick. Spread evenly in pan and bake for 35-40 minutes. Serve warm alone or with vanilla ice cream/frozen yogurt.
