What could be more easy then this recipe that uses a boxed cake mix and a can of frosting? But wholly-cow, are these bars good! You will love the taste and the ease of preparation. And be prepared because everyone will be asking you for this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 package chocolate cake mix (i used duncan hines dark fudge)
  • 1 cup (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 - tub coconut-pecan ready-to-spread frosting
  • 1/4 cup milk

How To Make amazing chocolate coconut-pecan bars

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 350°. Lightly grease rectangular pan, 13” X 9” X 2”.
  • Step 2
    Cut margarine into cake mix in medium bowl, using pastry blender or fork. Press half of the mixture in bottom of pan. Bake 10 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked layer; drop frosting by tablespoonfuls over chocolate chips.
  • Step 4
    Stir milk into remaining cake mixture. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto frosting layer.
  • Step 5
    Swirl the frosting and the cake mix blobs together with using a light hand and a knife.
  • Step 6
    Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until cake portion is slightly dry to touch; cool completely.
  • Step 7
    Cover and refrigerate until firm. Cut into bars (8 rows by 6 rows).
  • Step 8
    Cover and refrigerate any remaining bars.
