This is a quick and easy recipe that is always a hit and it calls for common ingredients that most cupboards already contain. I got the recipe from a Lunds & Byerlys cookbook that was published several years ago. I serve it plain or it is especially good with whipped cream. I hope you like it.

Ingredients

  • CREAM TOGETHER:
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter - softened
  • 4 - eggs -- (i always use large or jumbo eggs)
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • BEAT IN:
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • SPREAD IN 9 X 13 PREPARED PAN (BATTER IS SUPPOSED TO BE THICK) THEN, IN A SMALL BOWL COMBINE:
  • 1/2 cup sliced or slivered almonds
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar

How To Make almond bars / cake

  • Step 1
    Before baking, sprinkle with almond and sugar mix.
  • Step 2
    Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until done by wooden pick tester.
