Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon espresso powder
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup canola oil
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- ESPRESSO CHOCOLATE BUTTERCREAM FROSTING
- 2 cups butter softened
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 5 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons espresso powder
How To Make 3 layer chocolate espresso cake & frosting

Step 1Preheat oven 350 degrees.Spray 3 round cake pans with cooking spray.

Step 2Add all dry ingredients to a stand mixer and mix until well combined. Add all the wet ingredients except the boiling water and beat well. Turn the beaters down and slowly add the boiling water. Beat for 1 minute to add air to the batter. The batter will be a little runny. Pour into the prepared 3 pans. Bake about 35 to 40 minutes. Set aside and let cool.

Step 3For the frosting beat the butter and cocoa powder until well combine. Beat in the powdered sugar, cream, vanilla and espresso. Spread over cooled cake.
