Spiced Gingerbread Waffles

A tasty treat for a holiday breakfast. Serve with maple syrup. Makes 4-6 waffles, depending on size of waffle iron. I have never made these on a Belgium waffle maker, so don't know if it would work.

all purpose flour
1/2 tsp
baking soda
2 1/2 tsp
baking powder
3/4 tsp
1/4 c
granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp
ground cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp
ground ginger
1/2 tsp
ground cardamom
1/4 tsp
ground cloves
1 1/2 c
4 Tbsp
butter, melted and slightly cooled
2 large
3 Tbsp
1/2 tsp
vanilla extract

How to Make Spiced Gingerbread Waffles


  • 1Heat waffle iron.
  • 2In the meantime, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, sugar and spices. Set aside.
  • 3In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, butter, eggs, molasses and vanilla.
  • 4Add wet ingredients to dry, whisking until smooth.
  • 5Coat waffle iron with cooking spray.
  • 6Pour batter into waffle iron and cook as per instructions (it’s usually called for to fill the waffle well about 3/4 full). Close and cook until waffle is golden and cooked through.
