spiced gingerbread waffles
A tasty treat for a holiday breakfast. Serve with maple syrup. Makes 4-6 waffles, depending on size of waffle iron. I have never made these on a Belgium waffle maker, so don't know if it would work.

Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
- 4 tablespoons butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 2 large eggs
- 3 tablespoons molasses
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
How To Make spiced gingerbread waffles

Step 1Heat waffle iron.

Step 2In the meantime, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, sugar and spices. Set aside.

Step 3In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, butter, eggs, molasses and vanilla.

Step 4Add wet ingredients to dry, whisking until smooth.

Step 5Coat waffle iron with cooking spray.

Step 6Pour batter into waffle iron and cook as per instructions (it’s usually called for to fill the waffle well about 3/4 full). Close and cook until waffle is golden and cooked through.
