sausage and tomato gravy

Daddy's Sausage & Tomato Gravy was the best and this comes about as close as I remember. I have been making it for over 45 years for my own family and they all love it, too. Quick and easy breakfast to "stick to your ribs" especially in cold weather! Equally great as a quick dinner if you use canned biscuits and include a fresh salad.

  • 3 Tbsp
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 c
    chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 c

How To Make sausage and tomato gravy

  • 1
Peel and dice tomatoes, saving all the juices. Set aside.

Crumble sausage in large skillet and brown until done. You can drain the extra grease if you want. Add the flour, continue stirring and cook 2 minutes over medium heat.
  • 3
Add diced tomatoes and the juices, broth and milk. Stir to combine and bring to a gentle boil. Cook until it thickens.
  • 4
Add salt and pepper as desired. If too thick for your liking, add a small amount of broth or milk and stir thoroughly.
  • 5
    Serve over hot split biscuits.
