baked oatmeal breakfast squares

A former co-worker of my told me about this recipe which she found on allrecipes.com. She liked because it was something nutrious that her kids could grab going out the door for breakfast. She told me of her modifications. Subbing applesauce for the oil and using half the sugar. As well as Using brown sugar instead white. I tried it thought it was great. But as a Weight Watchers member I found the Points Plus Values too high. So i went to work To lower the PPV's This recipe is what I came up with

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups quick cooking oats
- 1/2 large apple, peeled & chopped
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar blend ( i use splenda)
- 1/2 cup applesauce, unsweetened
- 1/2 cup milk, skim
- 1/4 cup dried cranberries
- 1 1/4 cups walnuts, chopped
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 - egg or 1/4 cup of egg substitute
How To Make baked oatmeal breakfast squares

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F

Step 2Combine all ingredients in a bowl.

Step 3Pour into a greased 8 in square baking dish

Step 4bake for 25 minutes. Cut into squares
