Ingredients
- - 2 tbsp bacon grease
- - 2 tbsp butter, salted
- - 6 large green apples, unpeeled, cored, quartered, thick slices
- - 3/4 cup sugar
- - 1/4 - 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- - pinch of salt
- - 1/4 cup water
- - 1/4 lemon, juiced
- - 1 tsp butter
How To Make fried apples

Step 1In a large cast iron pan heat the bacon grease and the butter.

Step 2Add the apples, sugar, cinnamon, salt and water, mix well; bring pan to a boil over medium high heat, cover and let the apples steam for 5 - 6 minutes.

Step 3Lower the heat and remove the lid, continue frying until the apples are tender and the syrup looks like it is jelling.

Step 4Sprinkle with lemon juice, mix and pour into a serving dish, add a dab of butter on top and enjoy.
