·2 tbsp bacon grease
·2 tbsp butter, salted
·6 large green apples, unpeeled, cored, quartered, thick slices
·3/4 cup sugar
·1/4 - 1/2 tsp cinnamon
·pinch of salt
·1/4 cup water
·1/4 lemon, juiced

How to Make Fried Apples
- In a large cast iron pan heat the bacon grease and the butter.
- Add the apples, sugar, cinnamon, salt and water, mix well; bring pan to a boil over medium high heat, cover and let the apples steam for 5 - 6 minutes.
- Lower the heat and remove the lid, continue frying until the apples are tender and the syrup looks like it is jelling.
- Sprinkle with lemon juice, mix and pour into a serving dish, add a dab of butter on top and enjoy.
