val's california quiche
(1 RATING)
This recipe was given to me by a very dear friend of mine who was stationed with us in Astoria, OR. Val was from CA, and I was from NJ, but we hit it off and exchanged recipes for almost everything! This was one of our favorites! You can add just about anything to this, and it all turns out wonderfully!

Ingredients
- 4 - eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- dash pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 - pie crust
- 1/2 cup cheese
- - assorted fillings such as cooked veggies, meats, or seafood
How To Make val's california quiche
-
Step 1prepare the pie crust, and bake in at 425 for about 5 - 7 minutes. Meanwhile combine the eggs, milk and seasonings until well blended.
-
Step 2When the pie crust comes out, begin to fill it with the assorted fillings and cheeses. Pour egg mixture over the fillings and bake in at 350 for about 40 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. This can be made ahead of time.
-
Step 3As far as the fillings go, I have used all veggies, all meats as well as seafood, and every combination of these. Usually I adjust the seasoning depending on the filling. For example when I use seafood, I sometimes top the quiche with a light sprinkle of Old Bay seasoning. It looks great, and tastes great as well.
