Ingredients

  • 12 slice
    whole-grain bread, halved
  • 2 c
    shredded monteray jack cheese
  • 1 1/2 c
    cooked roast beef, cut into bite-sized pieces (or pork roast or lamb roast)
  • 1 c
    shredded carrot
  • 4
    eggs
  • 2 c
    milk
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp
    dried thyme
  • 1 tsp
    dried basil

How to Make Use Up That Leftover Roast Breakfast Strata

Step-by-Step

  1. Coat a 13x9x2-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Layer bread slices to cover bottom of dish. Sprinkle
    cheese, meat and carrot over bread.
  2. In a bowl, stir togeteher the eggs, milk and seasonings until well mixed. Pour carefully over ingredients in baking dish. Cover. Let stand 1 hour at room temperature or in refrigerator overnight. (Take out 30 minutes before baking and let sit at room temperature).
  3. Preheat oven to 325F. Uncover baking dish and bake 50 to 60 minutes or until center is nearly set. Let stand 10 minutes. Cut into squares.
