Ingredients

  • 1 pound sliced bacon, diced
  • 2 cups cooked ham, diced
  • 1 small onion, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup diced fresh cremini mushrooms
  • 10 slices white bread, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 cup cooked potato, diced into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 8 - eggs
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • - salt and pepper, to taste

How To Make farmer's breakfast strata

  • Step 1
    In a skillet, over medium heat, cook bacon until crisp; add ham, onion and mushrooms. Cook and stir until onion is tender; drain.
  • Step 2
    Coat a 13x9x2-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Layer half the bread cubes, potatoes and cheese. Top with all of the bacon mixture. Repeat layers of bread, potatoes and cheese.
  • Step 3
    In a bowl, beat the eggs; add milk, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt and pepper. Pour over all. Cover and chill overnight. Remove from refrigerate 30 minutes before baking.
  • Step 4
    Preheat oven to 325F.
  • Step 5
    Bake, uncovered at 325 degrees for 65-70 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Let cool 10 minutes and cut into 12-16 squares to serve.
