My Finnish Aunt Joann J. made these for many years. A family tradition. The family looked forward to Christmas, as she would bring a couple pans, of warm Butter Rolls for the family to gobble up...before dinner was served later in the day. Years later after she passed away I was given the recipe by her daughter Shirley. We refer to them as Aunties ole recipe. I call them YUMMILICIOUS!! A hot milk, cinnamon, cardamon buttery, custard delight.

How To Make butter rolls.. ole yummilicious recipe!

Heat oven to 350. In a bowl mix together flour, baking powder, salt and water. Mix together and put on a floured board. Roll out about 1/4 inch thick, a longer length, and a shorter width. Like you are making cinnamon rolls. Brush softened butter across the dough.

After mixing sugar, cinnamon and cardamon together spread 5 tablespoon across the buttered dough. Now roll up like a cinnamon roll. Cut into 2 inch pieces and put into a buttered baking dish. a 9x13 works well.

Heat milk and vanilla, with 5 Tablespoons of the cinnamon mixture in a saucepan. Stir ,on medium heat.. When it comes to a boil, pour over the rolls in the buttered baking pan. They will puff up. Sprinkle with remaining sugar mixture, and drop remaining butter over all.
