I love French toast. This is a lazy way of making a fruit filled French toast. No standing in front of a griddle making 2 pieces at a time. I totally changed a recipe by adding in apples, raisins, syrup, and butter, raisin bread, and changed some measurements. By turning the recipe around. It added a lot more flavor to a simple dish. It is full of apples, and cinnamon, and very delicious. Enjoy all!

  • Step 1
Butter a casserole dish. In a bowl whisk the milk, vanilla, sugar, eggs, maple Syrup, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon together. Set aside.
  • Step 2
Rip bread in to pieces like you would for stuffing. Toss in egg mixture with the apples and raisins. Coat evenly.
  • Step 3
Pour in to a casserole dish. Drizzle melted butter over it. Mix 2 TB sugar with a 1/2 tsp cinnamon. Sprinkle over casserole. Dot with pieces of cream cheese. Cover with saran and put in fridge at least 3 hours or over night .
  • Step 4
Bake at 350 for 35-45 minutes, or until lightly browned. I drizzle a little more butter over it before serving. Serve right away after removing from oven. Dust with powdered sugar, or serve with syrup.
