This is a recipe I created from my mom's Spiced Zucchini Bread recipe. I love her z-bread, but I love cherries & she didn't have a cherry bread recipe, so I made one.

  • 1 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c
  • 2
  • 1 3/4 c
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 can(s)
    canned cherries, well drained (1 1/2 cups)
  • 1/4 tsp
    almond extract
  • 1/2 c
    chopped nuts (optional)

How to Make Spiced Cherry Bread


  1. Pre-Heat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Grease a loaf pan
  3. Cream sugar & Crisco well
  4. Beat in eggs for 2 minutes
  5. Combine flour, salt, baking soda, nutmeg and cinnamon
  6. Stir half of flour mixture into Crisco mixture
  7. Add cherries
  8. Carefully spoon in remaining flour mixture
  9. Blend well
  10. Add almond extract & nuts, if using
  11. Pour into prepared pan
  12. Bake 50-60 minutes or until knife or toothpick, inserted in center, comes out clean
  13. Let cool 10 minutes & remove from pan to wire rack
  14. Cool & enjoy!
