poppyseed bread

I got this from a friend and love it. It doesn't last long at my house.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup canola oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 can evaporated milk
  • 2 ounces poppyseeds (approx. 2 tbs)
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped (optional)

How To Make poppyseed bread

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees, Grease and flour two 9 inch loaf pans. In a small bowl, sift together flour, soda and salt. Set aside.
  • Step 2
    In a large bowl, beat sugar, oil and eggs til golden. Alternate adding dry ingredients with the milk. Stir til blended. Fold in poppy seeds. (Add chopped nuts-walnuts, pecans, almonds-if desired)
  • Step 3
    Pour into prepared loaf pans. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes until golden brown. Cool 10 minutes, remove from pan and cool on a wire rack. Enjoy!
