  • 3 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 2 c
  • 1/3 c
    canola oil
  • 4 large
  • 1 can(s)
    evaporated milk
  • 2 oz
    poppyseeds (approx. 2 tbs)
  • 1 c
    nuts, chopped (optional)

How to Make Poppyseed Bread


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, Grease and flour two 9 inch loaf pans.
    In a small bowl, sift together flour, soda and salt. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, beat sugar, oil and eggs til golden. Alternate adding dry ingredients with the milk. Stir til blended. Fold in poppy seeds.
    (Add chopped nuts-walnuts, pecans, almonds-if desired)
  3. Pour into prepared loaf pans. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes until golden brown. Cool 10 minutes, remove from pan and cool on a wire rack. Enjoy!
