  • 1 1/4 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter, melted
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 2
    eggs
  • 3 or 4 medium
    ripe or overripe bananas, mashed
  • 3/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt

How to Make Ma's Banana Bread

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 9" x 5" loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Peel bananas and place in bowl of stand mixer or food processor. Melt butter and add to bowl. Mix until no lumps remain.
  3. In separate bowl, mix all dry ingredients. Incorporate this mixture into wet ingredients and blend completely.
  4. Transfer to prepared loaf pan and bake for 55-60 minutes, until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.

    Optional: sprinkle top of batter with 1-2 tablespoons of sugar before baking. This provides a sweet, crunchy top to your banana bread.
