Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 - eggs
  • 3 or 4 medium ripe or overripe bananas, mashed
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

How To Make ma's banana bread

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 9" x 5" loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Step 2
    Peel bananas and place in bowl of stand mixer or food processor. Melt butter and add to bowl. Mix until no lumps remain.
  • Step 3
    In separate bowl, mix all dry ingredients. Incorporate this mixture into wet ingredients and blend completely.
  • Step 4
    Transfer to prepared loaf pan and bake for 55-60 minutes, until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Optional: sprinkle top of batter with 1-2 tablespoons of sugar before baking. This provides a sweet, crunchy top to your banana bread.
