1 1/2 tspground ginger

1 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspsalt

1/2 ccrisco

q/2 cboiling water

1 cdark molasses (full-flavored)
How to Make Grandma Beck's Gingerbread
- whisk together the dry ingredients. Melt the Crisco in the boiling water. Add the molasses and blend well.
- Stir in the dry ingredients and mix well. Bake in a greased 8" x 8" pan at 350 degrees F for about 30-40 minutes until it passes the toothpick test.
- Dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve with freshly whipped cream, or lemon sauce - or both!
