Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup crisco
  • q/2 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup dark molasses (full-flavored)

How To Make grandma beck's gingerbread

  • Step 1
    whisk together the dry ingredients. Melt the Crisco in the boiling water. Add the molasses and blend well.
  • Step 2
    Stir in the dry ingredients and mix well. Bake in a greased 8" x 8" pan at 350 degrees F for about 30-40 minutes until it passes the toothpick test.
  • Step 3
    Dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve with freshly whipped cream, or lemon sauce - or both!
