How To Make cinnamon rolls with boiled brown sugar frosting

  • 1
To make the cinnamon rolls, add the warm water, sugar and yeast to a glass measuring cup. Let stand 10 minutes until it bubbles up. Add the remaining ingredients for the rolls and mix until well blended. Knead for 5 minutes. Place in an oiled bowl, set in a warm place and cover with a towel. Let rise for 2 hours.
  • 2
Punch the dough down and roll out to a square. To add the filling, spread the dough with melted butter, sprinkle the cinnamon and brown sugar over top and roll up jelly roll style. Grease a baking dish. Cut the rolls into `1 inch slices and place in baking pan.
  • 3
Let rise again until double in size. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Meanwhile make the frosting.
  • 4
Melt the butter in a saucepan. Whisk in the brown sugar and salt. Cook over low heat until sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil and boil for only 2 minutes. Remove from heat and add the milk and vanilla. Stir and let cool a bit. Whisk in the powdered sugar until smooth and spreadable.
  • 5
Once the rolls are cooled frost with the frosting.
