If you love apples this bread is for you! I have had people fight over the last piece! LOL

I ususally make this in the fall when apple picking is in season, but it's a request I get often.

You can pretty much use any apples you like but I prefer to use Northern Spy, Jonagold, Jonathan, Honey Crisp, or Pink Lady.

Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 4 c
    apples, peeled and finely diced
  • 2 c
    sugar, plus 2 tsp
  • 2 stick
    unsalted butter
  • 3 1/2 c
    flour, sifted
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 2 large
    eggs
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract

How to Make Ciao Bella Apple Bread

Step-by-Step

  1. Grease 2 9" X 5" loaf pans and place a piece of wax paper cut to fit loaf pans on bottom. (this will allow bread to come out of pan easier when cooled)
  2. In a large mixing bowl combine apples and 2 cups of sugar; set aside.
  3. Melt butter and let cool.
  4. In a seperate bowl mix flour with baking soda, cinnamon, salt and baking powder; set aside.
  5. Once butter is cooled slightly combine with apples.
  6. Add eggs and vanilla.
  7. Mix flour mixture with apple mixture. Do not over mix or your bread will be tough.
  8. Divide batter evenly among pans. Sprinkle each with remainder 2 teaspoons sugar. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minute to 1 hour and 30 minutes, until toothpick tested in center of bread comes out clean.
  9. Cool on wire racks for at least 1 hour before removing from pans(remove wax paper). Cool bread completely on wire racks. Wrap breads in plastic wrap when cooled. Also makes 6 mini loaves (5" X 3"), or 3 (8" X 4") loaves. Reduce baking time to 45-50 minutes for mini's and 50-60 minutes for 8" X 4".
