baking soda

baking powder

buttermilk
2 tsp
vanilla
1 tsp
salt
4 c
all purpose flour
lard to fry in

How to Make MARY LOU'S BUTTERMILK DOUGHNUTS

Step-by-Step

  • 1Heat oil to about 375 degrees.
  • 2Beat egg until lemon colored.
  • 3Add sugar to the beaten egg, beat until smooth.
  • 4Alternately add the dry ingredients and the buttermilk.
  • 5Roll out to desired thickness, add a little flour as you roll.
  • 6Cut out and fry in hot lard until golden brown, usually about three minutes on each side.
