This is a delicious dessert and so easy to make . I have no idea why its named this this way because its more a cobbler than a bread.

I found this recipe in an old cook book from 1965.

It was originally posted by a teacher named :
Mrs. Edith Oliveira from Pahala , Hawaii.

You can change the fruit pie filling to any flavor you wish . I've done it in strawberry filling and it was great .

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/3 c
    milk
  • 2 c
    sifted flour
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 can(s)
    blueberry pie filling

How to Make Bonny Berry Bread

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream butter and sugar ; beat in egg. Blend in milk.
  2. Sift together dry ingredients.
  3. Add to creamed mixture.
  4. Spread 1/2 the batter in a greased 8x8x2" pan.
  5. Cover with 3/4 the fruit pie filling.
  6. Spread with remaining batter , Top with remaining berries.
  7. Bake @ 375° oven for 30-40 minutes.
