Wilhelmina McGarity

There are many good banana bread recipes out there but this one is by far the best of them. I found this in the "Recipe Hall of Fame Cookbook" and it can be halved or doubled, as you like. I have added my own preferences, like a cup of raisins (the golden ones)and my favorite caramel icing. Incredibly yummy!

3 c
3 c
sour cream
4 tsp

2 tsp
vanilla extract
bananas, mashed
1 tsp
5 c
flour (bread flour is best)
1 c

How to Make Best Ever Banana Bread

  • 1cream together butter, sugar and eggs
  • 2Mix sour cream and baking soda together in separate bowl and let stand until foamy.
  • 3Add the rest of the ingredients to the above mixture and mix well. Place into 4 greased and floured 9x5 in. bread pans (I use Baker's Joy) and bake 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  • 4Note from someone called Marcus from Iowa: A good use of ripe bananas, this makes 4 loaves, so I often halve it. Okay to use Egg Beaters, low-fat sour cream and margarine-superb!
