I've tried a lot of different people's banana bread, but sorry to say, none compare with the moistness, flavor, or ease of this recipe. I hope you all enjoy it as much as our family does.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening, butter flavor
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sour milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup bananas

How To Make banana bread

  • Step 1
    Cream the Sugar and Shortening together. Add in and the eggs and beat well. Stir in dry ingredients alternately with the Sour Milk (1/2 Cup of milk with either a tsp of lemon juice or white vinegar works well for the sour milk), beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, smash the bananas well. Then stir them in to the batter.
  • Step 2
    Grease and flour Two 8x3 loaf pans. Pour batter evenly into the 2 pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 55 minutes, checking for done-ness. Toothpick or sharp knife should come out clean. Cool in pan for 5 minutes then turn out of pan to complete cooling.
  • Step 3
    This is delicious served warm, spread with a little butter or plain.
