Easy and delicious! This recipe reminds me of my mom. She baked this all the time for us when we were kids. It's an oldie, but still a goodie!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups chunky applesauce
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 2 - eggs
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • TOPPING
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

How To Make applesauce bread

  • Step 1
    Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Grease your 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan.
  • Step 2
    Combine applesauce, sugar, oil, eggs and milk.
  • Step 3
    In another bowl, combine flour, soda, baking powder, salt and spices.
  • Step 4
    Add the dry ingredients to the applesauce mixture. Beat well, then fold in walnuts.
  • Step 5
    Pour into prepared loaf pan.
  • Step 6
    Combine the topping ingredients. Sprinkle evenly on top of mixture in the loaf pan.
  • Cooling in the pan for 10 minutes.
    Step 7
    Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes, then remove from pan, and cool completely on rack.
  • Sliced to serve.
