I love hot, homemade bread of all kinds. Here is something that I created using my Classic Dinner Roll recipe and kicking it up a little bit. These are great served with spaghetti or your favorite soup or stew.

Ingredients

  • DOUGH:
  • 2 to 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 - envelope rapid-rise yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • TOPPING:
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes

How To Make parmesan knots

  • Step 1
Combine 3/4 cup flour, sugar, undissolved yeast and salt in a large bowl.
  • Step 2
Heat milk, water and butter until very warm (120º to 130ºF).
  • Step 3
Add to flour mixture. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer, scraping bowl occasionally.
  • Step 4
Add 1/4 cup flour; beat 2 minutes at high speed. Stir in enough remaining flour to make soft dough.
  • Step 5
Knead on lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 minutes. Cover; let rest 10 minutes.
  • Step 6
Divide dough into 14 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 10-in. rope and tie into a knot; tuck ends under. Place 2 in. apart on a greased baking sheet.
  • Step 7
Cover; let rise in warm, draft-free place until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
  • Step 8
Bake at 400° for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Step 9
In a large bowl, combine the remaining ingredients; brush the warm knots with the mixture.
  • Step 10
Serve warm with your favorite spaghetti, soup or stew.
