mom's norwegian apple bread
because of my mother's wonderful heritage - (Swedish, Danish and Norwegian) we grow up with many yummy tasty meals, sweets, breads, cakes, etc... this was one of my favorite childhood treats - for we always had way to many apples in fall -

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/3 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups chopped apples
- 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
- TOPPING
- 1/3 cup all purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamom
- 3 tablespoons butter, softened
How To Make mom's norwegian apple bread

Step 1In a bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla.

Step 2Combine flour, baking soda and salt; stir into the creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.

Step 3Fold in apple and nuts.

Step 4Pour into a greased 9-in. x 5-in. loaf pan.

Step 5For topping, combine the first four ingredients; cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over batter.

Step 6Bake at 350° for 55-60 minutes or until bread tests done. Cool in pan 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack. Yield: 1 loaf.
