I got this recipe out of "the American Family Home Cookbook". I love making this bread for the holidays.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/3 cup margarine
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons light molasses
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 - large shredded wheat biscuits (crumbled)
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 2 packages active dry yeast
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/4 cup wheat germ
- 2-3 cups all purpose flour
How To Make harvest bread

Step 1Heat milk, stir in margarine, honey, molasses, salt, and shredded wheat biscuits. Cool to lukewarm.

Step 2Measure warm water (105-115 degrees) into a large warm bowl. Sprinkle in yeast, stir until dissolved. Add lukewarm milk mixture and whole wheat flour, beat until smooth. Stir in wheat germand enough all purpose flour to make a stiff dough.

Step 3Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface, knead until smooth and elastic about 8-10 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turn to grease top. Cover, let rise in a warm place until double in bulk about 1 hour.

Step 4Punch dough down, divide in half. Shape each half of dough into smooth round ball. Press each ball slightly to flatten into 6 inches. Place on greased baking sheet.

Step 5Cover, let rise again in a warm place till double in size. If desired gently brush with beaten egg.

Step 6Bake on the lowest rack position at 400 degrees about 25-30 minutes, or until done. Cool on wire racks. makes 2 loaves. Serve with plenty of butter and honey.
