  • 2 large eggs
  • hot tap water
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 packages yeast
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup lard, melted (or oil)
  • 3-4 cups all-purpose flour

How To Make easy white bread or rolls

  • Step 1
    Mix wet ingredients. In a 2-cup measuring cup, beat the eggs, then add hot tap water until you reach 2 cups total.
  • Step 2
    Combine dry ingredients. In your stand mixer bowl, add 2 cups of flour, salt, and sugar. Attach the paddle attachment and mix briefly to combine.
  • Step 3
    Add liquids. With the mixer on slow speed, pour in egg/water mixture, melted lard (or oil), and mix until combined.
  • Step 4
    Add remaining flour. Switch to the dough hook. Gradually add 3-4 cups of flour, about 1 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms and pulls away from the sides of the bowl. NOTE: Dough should be slightly tacky but not sticky. Add flour gradually to avoid making it too dense.
  • Step 5
    Knead (in mixer). Let the dough hook knead on low speed for about 6-8 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  • First rise

    First rise. Transfer dough to a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
  • Step 7
    Shape. Punch down dough and shape into rolls (2 - 9" pans).

    Second rise. Place in greased pans, cover, and let rise again until puffy (30-45 minutes).
