all-purpose flour
1 c
whole wheat flour
3/4 tsp
baking soda
1/2 tsp
2 Tbsp
skim milk
2 Tbsp
1- 8 oz
carton plain low-fat yogurt
vegetable cooking spray
1 Tbsp

How to Make Whole Wheat Soda Bread


  • 1Combine first 4 ingredients in a large bowl; still well. Combine milk, honey and yogurt, stirring well: add to dry ingredients, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. (Dough will be sticky).
  • 2Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead lightly 3-4 times. Place dough on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray and sprinkle with cornmeal. Roll dough into a 7-inch circle. Make 8 (1/4" deep) cuts in a spoke fashion across top of dough with a sharp knife.
  • 3Bake at 400 degrees for 20-30 minutes or until loaf sounds hollow when tapped. Cut into wedges and serve.
