Ingredients
- 2 packages yeast
- 1 cup water, warm
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 4 cups milk
- 3/4 cup shortening (lard or oil)
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
- 4 cups whole wheat flour
- 2 - eggs, beaten
- 2 teaspoons salt
How To Make whole wheat bread

Step 1Soak yeast in warm water with sugar.

Step 2Heat milk. While hot, pour over shortening, brown sugar, and whole wheat flour. Let stand until lukewarm.

Step 3Add 2 beaten eggs, and 2 tsp. salt. Then the yeast mixture.

Step 4Gradually add 8-10 cups white flour. Knead well. Let rise until double in bulk. Punch down and let rise again.

Step 5Put into 4 well greased bread tins. Let rise until just above rim of pans.

Step 6Bake in a pre-heated oven at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Grease tops with butter while still hot.
