This is one of the recipes included in "The Bread Lover's Bread Machine Cookbook" by Elizabeth Hensberger. Every recipe I have used in this book has proved to be exceptional. I know you will love this one, as we do!

yield 1 (2) lb loaf

Ingredients

  • 1 5/8 cups water
  • 3 tablespoons nut oil or olive oil
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
  • 4 1/3 cups white whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons wheat gluten
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons saf yeast, or 1 pkg. regular active dry yeast or 1 tbsp of bread machine yeast

How To Make white whole wheat bread (bread machine)

  • Step 1
In this recipe from the King Arthur Flour Co., white whole wheat flour makes an incredibly light-textured whole grain bread that almost has you believing it is a white flour bread. If you use olive oil, be sure to use a light, flavorless one. Since this has the sweet addition of maple syrup, it is perfect for toasting.
  • Step 2
Place all the ingredients in the pan according to the order in the manufacturer's instructions. Set crust on dark and program for the Basic or Whole Wheat cycle: press Start. (This recipe MAY be used with the Delay Timer.)
  • Step 3
When the baking cycle ends, immediately remove the bread from the pan and place it on a rack. Let cool to room temperature before slicing.
